On June 12, 2025, the conference “Museums Without Borders: Experiences and Innovations in Cultural Accessibility” was held at the Department of Earth Sciences of Sapienza University of Rome.
The initiative, promoted by the Department as part of its Third Mission activities, highlighted the importance for cultural institutions of adopting languages and technologies aimed at engaging an increasingly diverse audience. This approach is concretely applied at the University Museum of Earth Sciences (MUST), designed as an inclusive space open to the community.
The conference featured contributions from representatives of the participating museums, with the goal of sharing experiences, discussing common challenges, and identifying innovative solutions to broaden access to cultural heritage.
The presentation by Lorenzo Dell’Aquila, Director of the Archaeological Area “Vicus Caprarius – the “City of Water,” emphasized the responsibilities of private initiatives in the cultural sector and their commitment not only to the preservation and enhancement of heritage but also to creating opportunities for community participation and growth.
A Commitment in Continuous Evolution. The event reaffirmed that access to cultural heritage is a dynamic process, built through the interaction of tools and languages, allowing museums and cultural institutions to become active spaces for personal and community development.
